At the Urban Institute for Strengthening Families (UI4SF), we believe change happens when the community comes together. Every father supported, every youth mentored, and every family strengthened is the result of people like you stepping forward to give their time, skills, and resources.

Whether you’re looking to volunteer, mentor a young man, partner with us, or donate, your involvement helps us expand our fatherhood support, youth mentoring, and emotional intelligence services in the Charlotte area.

Why Your Involvement Matters

Many of the men and youth we serve face significant barriers—cycles of poverty, incarceration, and limited access to education. Our services help break those cycles, but we can’t do it alone.

Community Events

In addition to structured workshops, UI4SF hosts annual and seasonal events designed to bring families and communities together.

Become a Mentor

Mentorship is at the heart of UI4SF’s mission. We match committed community members with fathers or youth who can benefit from guidance, accountability, and encouragement.

As a mentor, you will:

Meet regularly with your mentee (in-person or virtual)
Provide a listening ear and constructive feedback
Share skills and life experiences
Encourage personal and professional growth

No previous mentoring experience? No problem. We provide full training and ongoing support.
